50 Cent - songwriter of the year

Rapper 50 Cent, singer Annie Lennox and rock band Green Day have won the major awards at a ceremony where US songwriters honour their peers. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) voted 50 Cent songwriter of the year. May 22, 2006

The five award-winning songs were "Candy Shop," "Disco Inferno," "Hate It Or Love it," "How We Do" and "Just A Lil Bit."

50 cent was born Curtis Jackson 26 years ago. 50 cent was shot 9 times in front of his grandmothers house (year 2000). February 6, 2003 his albulm 'get rich or die trying' was released.

Yo Gotti Birthday Party

Yo Gotti's Birthday Party and CD release was interrupted on Friday (May 19) morning by a shooting at a Beale Street nightclub. Police are investigating. Memphis Police say about 800 people were at the Plush Club.

Gotti's attorney, Arthur Horne, says the rapper had no involvement in the shooting. He said : "Yo Gotti's very dismayed at what happened the other night".

Plush employees say the shooting happened in the parking lot, police and the witness say it happened inside.

Born Mario Mims, Yo Gotti grew up in Ridge Crest Apartments in a North Memphis neighborhood call Frazier. Yo Gotti released his own underground tape entitled, Youngster on the Come Up and placed it on consignment at local mom & pop record stores as well as hustling it out the trunk. The tape sold like hotcakes on the street and made Yo Gotti the hottest rapper on the streets of Memphis. After performing around Memphis in the '90s, Gotti started building a catalog in the early 2000's. His first album, From Da Dope Game 2 Da Rap Game, came out on the Inevitable label in 2000; 2001's Self Explanatory and 2002's Block Burnin', Vol. 1. After that, Gotti signed with TVT and recorded Life, which came out in 2003.

Bill Cosby Cracks Down

Comedian Bill Cosby says: "The men as young boys are dropping out of high school, but they've memorized the lyrics of very difficult rap songs".
Cosby did make it clear there are some young Black males doing the right thing.
Cosby and his wife Camille gave a $20 million gift in 1987 to Spelman College, where he made his remarks Sunday, 14.

In 1988 he was hired as a VeeJay for MTV's TV.
Dated actress Alicia Silverstone. Has starred alongside Drew Barrymore in two movies: "The Wedding Singer" and "50 First Dates".
He is a fan of professional wrestling. His favourite bands ever are Van Halen and Styx.

In june 2002, he announced engagement to longtime girlfriend, model/actress Jackie Titone ( She is a model and actress who appeared briefly in Sandler's 1999 film, "Big Daddy"). Adam wore an Armani tux and yarmulke (a religious head covering) in his June 2003 wedding to Jackie Titone.
On 6 May 2006 has his daughter born in Los Angeles. He said: "Kid is healthy!! Wife is healthy!! He's still a moron, and that's all that counts!!!"
